The Brits are in Iraqi waters to inspect the cargo of all ships at the direction of the UN. To mention imperialism and oil with this problem is obnoxious.

I feel bad for the 15 Brits being held in Iran. As the US holds prisoners for life on hearsay and all the horror stories about the Bush torture policy I hope Iran doesn't follow those new laws. Let's hope the United Nations can get the countries to form a Law about captured prisoners that will allow for peaceful release. It's take a strong leader to bring peace to all this chaos. Let's see what country produces that leadership.

Good Evening Mr. Seigenthaler, Tom Aspell's report on the young woman who won the Arabic version of American Idol was one of the most positive things coming from that country. Seeing how happy the people were to see her win showed that one person can bring a troubled nation together. Such a change from news of bombings and killings all the time. It gives the people of that region something to cheer. Maybe someday peace will come to that region and all the leaders, military, civilians and the world will have something to cheer about too. I hope all the journalists report that story someday and everyone can smile and high five eachother saying "We made it and peace has finally come." I sure hope so. Peace to all!

Hello Dear John,
I expect many moves the Iranian mullahs will do with the British sailors. I saw some signs demanding the execution of these sailors. The Iranian mullahs have become smarter and smarter as the Bush administration has been trying to squeeze them. They are waiting for the Brits and US to move against them, and if that move occurs the rest of the British soldiers in Basra will be gone with wind, and the Iraqi mullahs will defend the Iranian mullahs as well. It is a new tactic by the Iranian mullahs to humiliate what was called the British Empire. They are sending a message saying that we beat and humiliate you without the Bomb. The Brits could not dominate the Persians during their peak days in the past, nor can they do it now. The Iranian mullahs may have the Brits number. I still believe that the Brits should not have been in the Gulf whether in the Iranian or the Iraqi waters. The Brits have duty to defend the Kingdom’s border, not to fish in foreign waters for oil. Frankly, this century is for the development of science and technology, not for imperialist adventures. Imperialism and colonialism have already died. At any rate, if I enter the British waters illegally, I will be called a violator of the British sovereignty, as it happen to a Mexican worker who crosses the American border. The same law should be applied to the Brits: They are violators of the Iraqi and Iranian waters. In short, international laws have to be respected by the powerful and the weak, and the powerful in particular should set an example by obeying the international laws that those sailors have violated. Many Thanks and Best Regards.
