Thank you so much, Ann, for bringing much-needed attention to the atrocities that have gone on in Africa for far too long. I recently started working with a local refugee program called Des Moines to Darfur. I am so happy to have met the folks I have gotten to work with and will be haunted by all those who never made it.
Sarah Hankel, Des Moines, IA (Sent Mar 22, 2007 12:19:13 PM)
Ann. Thank you for being brave enough to travel into very dangerous country , to show the world what is really happening Dafur! It is heartbreaking to watch the horrorible things that are being done to the people there! Please be safe! The world need more people like you!

Ann:
Your mission to showcase the suffering in Darfur is inspiring. I truly believe that your purpose in life is to inform Americans and the rest of the world of the atrocities that we do not witness. Thank you for being the eyes and voice of the displaced and the desperate. I always look forward to watching your reports as your journalism exemplifies the mixture of compassion and fairness. Do take care of yourself and get home safely.

Ann,
I was compelled to see the man responsible for the atrocties occurring in Darfur. I applaud you. I don't ever think I could have kept my cool when interviewing a murderer, especially someone who denies it happening. PLEASE continue reporting on Darfur, it is only with the media's help that we will be able to fully end the conflict.

Thank you so much for your courage in going to the Sudan once again. We need this spotlight on the region to keep the international eyes trained on this conflict. Here in Oregon, Lane County, we work to keep our community informed. It is hard to feel that one can make a difference. You can, and I thank you.

Ann,
What an amzing interview. I could never have sat across from him and listened to the lies. Scary how he says the same things Hitler did about nothing happening to the jewish polulation in Germany and the occupied countries. Shame on him and those who give him support.

Ann,
Many thanks for your interview with President Al Bashir. We now see how he can deny any of the atrocities first hand. I wonder if he saw the pictures from the "Smallest Witnesses" exhibit at the holocaust museum. In Cincinnati we have had first hand reports from Nick Clooney (George Clooney's father) about the visit he and George had in Chad to see and hear the stories first hand. We saw the trip that you took to Chad. These are first hand stories and witnesses who are reporting, not a satellite photo of WMD sites. These are flesh and blood people reporting. Again, as they are women, their reports are seen as worthless.

Ann,
Sixy Minutes previously reported that the reason the US does put more pressure on stopping the genocide is Sudan offers up the occasional high value intelligence on al Qaida. Osama Bin Laden and al Qaida were operating for some time in Sudan prior to moving operations to Afghanistan. So, it begs the question, is the US and its' allies dealing in death? In other words, is the slaughter of the people of Darfur worth less than the intelligence tidbits from the Sudanese government in the eyes of western intelligence officials? I have yet to see an answer to the question despite its' report as fact.

I am an Elder in the A.M.E. Church. My heart bleeds for the Dafurians. This kind of atrocity must come to an end. My desire is to allow the Darfurians to have the freedom they once had. I keep them on the altar of my heart.
Elder Kim I. Dixon, Rockaway, New Jersey (Sent Mar 20, 2007 4:49:26 PM)
I am hopeful to see that their is attention on the president of Sudan but disheartened to see how much he reminds me of Hitler. Even now, there are white supremicists that deny the holocaust. Let us not make this a race, religion or national issue. Let us make it what it is... A humanitarian issue that needs to be delt with using international pressure and peacekeeping. If you are all as terribly awestruck and heartbroken as I was when I first heard about the plight of the Sudanese people. Do more. Start your own awareness group or join one of the hundreds out there protesting, writing the media, bugging officials and raising funds for protection and aid. Don't just sit there....Do more.
Tashmica, Lansing, MI (Sent Mar 20, 2007 3:07:46 PM)
Again I state that while we (the U.S) have the priviledge to sit on our backsides and do nothing in Sudan, thousands of innocents are being displaced, dying, raped and murdered. Where is the sense of decency in this country anymore? We are the world police because we stand up for humanity against inhumanity. How can the U.S. not be involved? The U.N. is being snubbed here by the Sudan Government. Their President acts like none of this is his fault and he knows that no other government will stand up to stop him anyway. Why, because people want to mind their own business, just like Rwanda. Just because this is happening on the otherside of the world, doesn't make it not an issue for us as human beings.
Karin, Iowa (Sent Mar 20, 2007 2:21:02 PM)
Ann, what you are doing is important for Americans to see what is going on in the mind of an international criminal, hopefully this can clear up some issues that Americans in general have forgotten about that are important to the human race such as survival and life. Thanks

You did a great job Ann! For whom you were interviewing, you pressed and even offered your own firsthand accounts, which he could not deny. I guess one must wonder why he even granted the interview at this time. Maybe to stall international pressure? Although I don’t buy any of what he was saying about the US fabricating lies about Darfur, I’m under no illusion of the role Western civilization has played in the bloody colonial history of Africa. Not only did European powers chop up Africa as they saw fit a century ago (which often placed competing tribes in the same nation), we’ve armed them to the teeth in our proxy wars with Russia, the Cubans and whomever the enemy of the week was. It seems the only one with any common sense in situations like this is Jimmy Carter who I think just tried to negotiate a truce there. He said a few thousand UN troops would not be enough… that there needed to be a diplomatic solution.

Ann: Pretty amazing. How you kept your cool while looking into his eyes as he denies the killings, rapings and starving populalation due to food not reaching the intended.Comparing this situation to Colin Powell's report of Iraq's supposedly WMD's? Pu-leeze! In spite of this monster, we don't have a right to go in there. We cannot be the world's police. Best can be done is pressure from private groups world-wide and working alongside other countries. P.S. I love your style. Very warm and coming from the heart!

Lets be honest, when it comes to helping black people the United States does nothing. Lets look at what we did to help Katrina victims. And also, where are the Islamic Imans condenming the Muslim Militias that are raping and killing? Why aren't the arab men that are commiting these sins(rape;fornication) stone to death? And why aren't the women given guns and amunition and self-defense classes to protect themselves? It's obvious that no one will help them, since the world stands behing the Muslim World and always gives them cart blanche to do whatever they want to women and children. Lets send the women arms and military trainers so that when they are attack, they have atleast a chance to kill these inhuman terrorists and stop this genocided.
