The Daily Nightly from NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams

About this blog

The Daily Nightly began on May 31, 2005. As Brian wrote in his first post it aims to provide a narrative of the broadcast day and a window into the editorial process at NBC Nightly News. Brian weighs in every weekday and NBC News correspondents and producers post regularly.

Brian Williams became the seventh anchor and managing editor in the history of NBC Nightly News on December 2, 2004. Read his full biography.

From Iraq...

A bit earlier, I spoke with Brian Williams who made his 3rd trip to Baghdad today.  He will be covering the troop surge from Iraq all week.  Tonight Brian and NBC's Tom Aspell have more on the latest effort by U.S. troops to beef up security by moving into Sadr City.  Brian will anchor Nightly News from Iraq each night this week... and you can find out more about his trip by looking here in the "Daily Nightly" blog.

Plus, we'll tell you about a soldier serving in Iraq who is back home facing a tragedy tonight.  NBC's Kerry Sanders has that story.

Also, the battle in the Democratic Party between Hillary Clinton and Barak Obama…  The two candidates spoke today in Selma Alabama on the anniversary of Bloody Sunday. NBC's Andrea Mitchell reports.

NBC's John Yang is following the Republican candidates... and tells us about Rudy Giuliani's surge in the polls.

We will talk to CNBC's Maria Bartiromo about the economy and what's expected when the markets open tomorrow.

And we'll find out how YouTube is changing the way police search for suspects. NBC's Michael Okwu reports.

It's all coming up tonight.  We hope to see you then.

All that talk about who's got the black vote I remember when blacks couldn't vote. As for Hillary and Obama well it took a smart man to defuse the media crazies. Yes Bill knew what to do and did it. Like always when the country has a problem call Bill. Bush did just that with the Katrina storm, he was unable to do anything as usual so he called Bill. There is not race problem in America only those who make it a problem.

I guess Bin Liden was right when he said America wouldn't have to be attacked again we are destroying ourselves. We are spending faster then 109th Congress could ok it, but getting nothing back. We give 2 Billion a day to Iraq and Americans get 0. Even a bad math student would know we're in trouble, but the President says it's ok just give me 2.9 Trillion dollars for Iraq/ and war profiteers the grandchildren can pick up the bill. I notice the Stock Market people say things are good, don't tell that to the millions who lost their money last week. It might be good for the trillion-airs but not anyone else.
No surprise about the Republican candidates. Nothing from nothing leaves nothing. Let's hope Hagal gets in for real honest leadership to give this a contest.

Brian is one of the trusted Journalist of our time and I do mean our time. We have heard once honest Journalist lie, spin and blame to cover up the corruption of the White House. Even Pulitzer Journalist have been brought and paid for by the White House. Tony Snow lies so much the truth is never heard. So as Edward R. Murrow would say truth is the only way. Brian stay safe and bring back the truth that others wont.
