Brian recaps his Iraq trip

Thanks Ann for the courage to confront President Al Bashir on Darfur. We need this issue to be presented to the American People. I can see how our own problem with photos of Iraq (Colin Powell) come back to haunt us. This gives an excuse for using photos to prove murder. Maybe we should convince a courageous woman to come to the courts in Sudan and sue for rape. We would like to see more of this issue on the air

The pet food recall has all of us pet owners Dogs/Cats frantic, as those of us who might have prescription wet foods by Science Diet want to know whether or not to feed this to our beloved pets.

Brian:
Ann Myers (OR) brings up an excellent question directly related to the future of our involvement in Iraq. I also wonder about the continuation of the building of permanent bases. As this Iraq War evolves (or convolutes further depending on your viewpoint) these permanent military bases are now for what? Protection of Oil interests? Continuing Halliburton et al. contracts? Protecting the Iraqi people and their democracy (need I add lols?) Just curious as no one seems to be covering this aspect of "the war". And this should mean a great deal to those in Congress with whom we had vested responsibility last Nov '06 to get us out. Thanks so much for your reporting. Signed, So blue in such a hopelessly red state.

Dear Brian-A question for Richard Engel that Ive been unable to find answers for. Is US military continuing construction of perm.bases in Iraq? Have heard 12-14? Also is const. cont.on US embassy Gr.Zone said to be largest in world? I think the answers to this would speak directly to admin.plans in Iraq. Thank you both very much.

Hi Brian -
Welcome back.
Although I've blogged here for a while, I was never able to access the vlogs too well on my dial-up. Over the 'break' I upgraded to Broadband (AT&T had a deal) and now I can see them just fine! You look well and rested from your time off.
I think the Pet Food recall has affected a lot of people - my local supermarket was busy this morning.
