War Debate
On this Saturday of a holiday weekend we are following several big stories.
One day after the U.S. House of Representatives passed a non-binding resolution opposing the President's new war plan for Iraq... Senators are trying to decide whether to debate a resolution on Iraq in the Senate.
NBC's Chip Reid will have the latest from the hill... NBC's John Yang reports from the White House... and NBC's Jane Arraf reports from Baghdad.
Plus... travel troubles. After the snowstorm in the northeast... some flyers are still stuck in airports this holiday weekend. Jetblue has gotten the most attention... but other airlines canceled flights too... and some of those passengers are still trying to get out of town. NBC's Rehema Ellis reports tonight from JFK airport in New York.
NBC's Mark Potter reports on State Farm’s decision to no longer write homeowner insurance policies in the state of Mississippi.
We've had an overwhelming response to our Trading Places series looking at the challenges of caring for aging parents. So tonight... we've asked NBC's Lisa Daniels to take a look at one solution. She found a unique program in Vermont that's serving as an alternative to assisted living. She'll have that story tonight.
That's the way it stands right now. We hope to see you tonight.

US House and Senate 2007
Because of Pay Go, any additional taxpayers' money for Iraq ($2 Billion/week now) or the Pentagon must be approved along with spending cuts or an increase in income taxes. Therefore, raise taxes by five percentage points on corporations/businesses and individual income including dividends and capital gains for those citizens earning more than $250,000 per year. Real after tax income for corporations and these more wealthy individuals have increased substantially since the Bush tax cuts while the remaining income earners' real incomes have been stagnant or have declined. Corporations/businesses and the wealthy Republicans elected Bush; make them pay for his mistakes and spending extravagance. Stop spending the Social Security Trust Fund on fraud and corruption in Iraq and stop adding to the USA $9 Trillion debt.

If I were a member of Congress, I would offer the following resolution, and it would be BINDING: 1.) Unless and until President Bush waives the federal matching funds requirement that has been keeping Louisiana from accessing aid already in the pipeline because she cannot afford the $1 billion these matching funds would cost her, the only money to be appropriated towards Iraq would be to support and protect the troops already there. 2.) Any reconstruction aid to the country of Iraq, or to Afghanistan, or to any other foreign country is to be matched by an equal amount of aid to New Orleans and other communities damaged by Katrina, Rita, and Wilma.

As we the American people, watch what is going on in Congress, and whom they work for the back lash will start hurting in the long run. The republican's as I see it is working for Bush and not for the American people who elected them. While all this is going on more young American are dying for what?
Bush and Cheney started something in the world and now more Americans are dying.
I see and hear the neocons who never served one second in the military are cheering Bush on, and letting other parents sons, daughters, mothers, and fathers die, thinking there sons and daughter will have a better future to succeed in life, because other parents are letting there sons and daughter waste there life fighting a lost war.
Let Bush, Cheney, and the republicans call me out as a cut and run, but they can't I served my twenty years as a soldier. By now everybody knows Iraq did not cause 9/11, nor did terrorist in Iraq, Osama Bin Ladeon caused it, and now Bush and Cheney are causing WWIII. But you have some stupid American's believing the terrorist are coming to America, we as American have to be proactive instead of reactive, spending billions of dollar in another country is not smart just like our President or Vice President or some of the republicans. Remember Jim Jones, David Kerosh the religious cults that force there people of followers to commit suicide or murder after they were confronted well think Bush beleive he makes decisions from the lord, and suppose to be a COMPASSIONATE CONSERVATIVE. Where is the COMPASSIONATE BUSH? WAKE UP AMERICANS, LOOK AT YOURSELF IN MIRROR AND ASK YOUR YOURSELF IS BUSH LYING AGAIN.

Congress’ symbolic rejection to oppose the war has been a complete and total waste of taxpayers’ money. Talk about Fleecing of America! Our elective representatives say that they want their constituents to know where they stand on the war and President Bush’s plan to increase troop levels. Well, you know what; tell them to post their rejections, or support of it, on their websites and work on issues that they have control of. They can not prevent the troop increase. So, I say again, stop wasting taxpayers’ time and money with morale crushing emblematic politics in hopes of better positioning of their Congressional Parties for the 2008 elections.

As the Senate does nothing our troops keep getting killed. Americans voted for change but we can see now with the Senate and the Republicans they will stay the course as ordered by Bush. The Senators that showed up and voted for change work for the people. The others work for Bush. Even McCain was to busy to do the people's busy he had a very important matter to attend to at a fund raiser at a ice cream event. Rudy is charging 100K to speak as that money was for the Tsunami victims. Mitt is going to use the Bush plan and buy his way to the White House. If only Hagal would run.
John your right out here in California we would think from your report that only Jet Blue was the one holding passengers.
From the White House the lies just keep on coming. Iran did it, oh maybe not. Anything to change the subject from bringing our troops home. Once the money is cut off to the contractor, Iraq puppets and others being paid off by the White House our troops will come home. It's all about the money not saving anyone or national security. Even the Bush family have profited from the lies and crimes that the White House has done in the past 6 years. Please keep telling us the truth and maybe American people will step up to the plate to end this crime wave.
