The Daily Nightly from NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams

About this blog

The Daily Nightly began on May 31, 2005. As Brian wrote in his first post it aims to provide a narrative of the broadcast day and a window into the editorial process at NBC Nightly News. Brian weighs in every weekday and NBC News correspondents and producers post regularly.

Brian Williams became the seventh anchor and managing editor in the history of NBC Nightly News on December 2, 2004. Read his full biography.

Early Nightly is up

Earlynightly_87Brian anchors the broadcast tonight from New York, where the top story is likely to be the late-breaking lead from last night -- British Prime Minister Tony Blair's decision to pull 1,600 troops out of Basra, Iraq.

The vlog also features a pair of special guests -- two students from Riverside Elementary in Riverside, Conn., who are at 30 Rock to interview Brian.

My mother had to be in a nursing home for 2 years before she died. we got her into the best one in our small town, yet I began to realize that the staff intrusted with her daily care (not medical) were people with no education, many of them hopped from job to job because we saw them all over town....most of these staff had very little training and were limited on people needs and care.....there was exceptions of course but not many. Many of the staff I saw passing through and talked to myself were school dropouts, young parents, been in trouble, and had little idea the weight of their responsibility....most did not care, it was just a job and they were paid minimum wage with no benefits.....
better screening, better training and closer supervision and higher wages can make a difference.

Tony Blair appears to have the earmarks of a good leader: He acknowledges his mistakes and makes appropriate adjustments. It is too bad that he let association with George Bush destroy his political career.
