The Daily Nightly from NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams

About this blog

The Daily Nightly began on May 31, 2005. As Brian wrote in his first post it aims to provide a narrative of the broadcast day and a window into the editorial process at NBC Nightly News. Brian weighs in every weekday and NBC News correspondents and producers post regularly.

Brian Williams became the seventh anchor and managing editor in the history of NBC Nightly News on December 2, 2004. Read his full biography.

Early Nightly is up

Earlynightly_66Brian anchors the broadcast tonight in New York, but Congressional Correspondent Chip Reid handles the vlog. He'll report tonight from Capitol Hill, where reaction to President Bush's plan for Iraq dominates the discussion.

Mich,

Excellent analogy!

Folks, I give you the true definition of TRAVESTY:
George W. Bush is Captain Ahab
Iraq is Moby Dick
The United States is the Pequod
and we, the US citizens and its military, are the crew.
We are stuck with a Captain who is fanatically pursuing a "victory" that the crew no longer wants or cares about. Now, the crew just wants off the ship. Other Captains have tried in vain to focus Ahab on more tangible goals, but Ahab only wants one thing, and he will "stay the course" until the ship goes down.
