I don't believe we should have hanged Saddam. Why not leave him in prison for the rest of his life? As for Mr. Bush, he isn't ready to tell the American people his stragedy for Iraq, because it is such a mess he doesn't know what to do.

If Saddam was such a problem in Iraq, why didn't the citizens of Iraq rise up and remove him from power? Oh sure, it would have been messy and the same power vacuum would have existed as they have now, and many would have died, but at the end of the day, they would have reclaimed their own country.

I guess we forgot Star Trek's First Directive: Don't interfer with another society's struggle.

I see that all the comments up to this time is about Saddam, but to change the subject...with Denver Airport seeing a pending closure due to another snowstorm I was wondering what happened to the FAA and TSA and their roles to help air passengers get to their destinations on time?

When Denver opened after the pre-Christmas shutdown United Air flew in, at their own expense dozens of TSA agents to get passengers pass security and onto their planes on time.

With thousands of people stuck in Denver and many thousands more around the country affected by the Denver closure why didn't Homeland Security step in or at least offer aid? Snow or terrorists it still is a shutdown of a major airport.

It's not about getting people home for the holidays but about part of the air passenger traffic being brought to a halt and the Federal government without a clue on how to get traffic flowing smoothly again.

JFK had no way of knowing that forty years later his CIA-backed coup would lead to one of the most serious U.S. national security threats since his Cuban missile crisis. Just as Reagan played no role in decisions by private companies to contravene U.S. law and sell poison gas to the Iraq.

The reason Saddam was not tried in international tribunal is because The American goverment had attributed to the rise of his presidancy and that would bring shame to the United States goverment's executive branches like CIA, FBI, and congress.

Is against international law to execute an ex-president while the country is in civil war.

Bush sent US forces to conquer Iraq, spent $500 billion dollars and killed thousands, and all we get in the end is the death of Saddam?

If Saddam was the real problem in Iraq, why wasn't he simply assassinated by the CIA or blown up by one of those drones using hellfire missiles? It would have been far less costly in terms of dollars and American and Iraqi lives. And we could have easily denied guilt and instead blamed our "friends" the Israelis.

It's a shame that we STILL allow the killing of people to prove that killing people is wrong.

Saddam had 150 people killed because they tried to assassinate him. Bush killed thousands of innocent woman/children while invading Iraq, tortured and killed innocent men, made millions flee their homes, stole oil, stole all of Iraq's money and allowed our troops to do unspeakable things to the Iraq people. Bush has let thousands of our soldiers die for the GOP and big business greed.
Which leader is really the criminal and which is the soldier. Bush Sr. knew what to do, Ford told Bush he was wrong yet 28 % of the American people still follow the acts of Satan. Bush should be thinking about who he will appoint as Vice President and hope that person does the same thing Ford did for Nixon. The George W. Bush Administration has become the worse corrupt White House and GOP in the history of America. Nixon's scandal now takes second place. Spiro went Cheney will go. At lease Ford let Americans know it was all about loyalty to the Republican party just as the GOP protected a child abuser like Foley for years as he prayed on innocent children while the GOP looked the other way.

It's a shame Saddam won't spill his guts on his dealings with Samir Vincent, Jimmy Carter, Kofi Annan, Jacques Chirac, and Bill Clinton in the Oil-for-Food scandal. :-)

It's a sad day in American journalism once Saddam has been hanged b/c the World and American people will never find out the truth about Saddam and the Republican Party. Every crime Saddam was convicted of was blessed by a Republican administration starting with Reagan and even up until Bush Sr. These guys have a long history of creating dictators that eventually turn into monsters b/c they have the backing of a current Republican president. It's unfortunate Saddam didn't spill his guts about the many visits by Rumsfeld and others who routinely gave him the very weapons he used against his people and contracts with American companies with Republican connections. The sooner Saddam is put to death, the sooner the Republican Party can relax, knowing another one of their monsters has been silenced. There was a time corporations and political favors didn't control the media but it's obviously, it's here to stay! Saddam was an bad person but the people that created him are just as guilty as he was and his death will silence he truth! It's a sad day for American journalsim...once again!
