I liked Ford as a person, which we don't have too many of on the Hill anymore. But as a President, he was only in office for 2 years, never elected to the Presidency or Vice-Presidency and the man was 93 years old. I had a friend who was 92, pass away Christmas eve and a neighbors wife, who was "just" 82, pass away Christmas night. I think the media has gone bonkers on Ford. Let him rest in peace. He will be one paragraph in the history books. As a Representative in Congress, he did his thing. As a President, all he did was pardon Nixon. And he lost his reelection bid to Jimmy Carter.

Brian, it occurs to me that you might be getting a little nervous about taking vacations; when you wne to Great Britain, we had the gel bomb scare and they brought you back on the air for that. Now you take time off for the holidays, and you get called back for this. Next time you plan a vacation, don't mention the date out loud to the History gods; they seem to like making mischief at your expense ! :)

President and Mrs. Ford are/were a class act. My forever memory will be of them escorting the Nixons to the helicoptor when they left the White House for the last time. There were four people in a row, the men at the ends with the wives in the middle. They were joined by arms around each others' waists and forever by one of the darkest periods of our history. Mrs. Ford seemed especially caring towards Mrs. Nixon, who I have always thought was mortally wounded by the resignation.

God bless and keep Mrs. Ford and her family at this time. Rest in peace, Mr. President.
