As we remember JFK this week I think of New Orleans and the plight of its African American Citizens. JFK gave his life for the right of all people to live in a free democracy with a decaded Right to Vote. Houndreds of thousands of people are being denied the right to vote because of their displacement during katrina. I wonder what the soliders from New Orleans who are in Iraq fighting for the right of the People of Iraq to vote think about their families not having acesss to a vote in the United States Of America. I can only hope that this treatment of African Americans in New Orleans is not what the rest of Afro-America has to look forward to in the comming years.

Would Camelot have survived had it not happened?
I was 11 at that time and knew enough that big changes were just around the corner. I look back longing for those times prior to 11-22. My six adult children just never understood what we once had. They think it is just "old" stuff. I really feel sorry for them not being able to experience that time in this country. This truly was the day the music died.

Brian I don't have to watch the reels as I remember it well. I loved John Fitzgerald Kennedy and he allowed me as a young African American teenager to feel I was equal and a valued part of my country. Ask not what your country can do for you Ask what you can do for your country. Our class wrote President Kennedy and got a letter back. Those were the days when our country was truly the UNITED STATES. Yes change had to happen and I was scared when George Wallace stood in the school door to block the kids from going in but Kennedy was strong, honest and believed that all men/women were created equal. A generation was inspired by this one President who is with us today in our hearts. I offend talk about President Kennedy to my grown kids. Yes I remember the day he was killed and I will never forget it. All of us baby boomers have tried to live up to the dreams of that time. Bill Clinton tried George W. Bush didn't. Yes there where some who lived so high and never looked at the suffering of other Americans and they still don't care. Thank God the good out number the bad as this to will past with the help of God. Thanks for the memories we always need to remember out past to draw out the plan for the future and not repeat our mistakes. ya we did for 5 years but we see the light ahead and I know Kennedy would be proud we found our way out of that darkness.
