The Daily Nightly from NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams

About this blog

The Daily Nightly began on May 31, 2005. As Brian wrote in his first post it aims to provide a narrative of the broadcast day and a window into the editorial process at NBC Nightly News. Brian weighs in every weekday and NBC News correspondents and producers post regularly.

Brian Williams became the seventh anchor and managing editor in the history of NBC Nightly News on December 2, 2004. Read his full biography.

Elmo Jones,

My sentiments exactly. The "Curse of the Kennedys" is simply the curse of a reckless sense of entitlement.

I watched my first Early Nightly on my Mac! Thank you...good to see you! Keep up the great work.

I would like you to stop airing Kennedy stories unless some historical archive is being opened. The body of historical evidence refutes this notion that they are American Royalty.

Brian et al - may I add my "thanks" to you all for using the photo from Amish country. It's bad enough that these people have had to endure this intrusion by violence from the outside world in such a public manner. Splashing their pain and mourning all over the airwaves, and newsprint as I now hear from you, is unconscionable and no one should be subjected to that invasion of privacy.

Your decision to hold back those cemetery photographs, while other news media wave them in our faces, is the kind of discretion that makes your Nightly News an Emmy winner. Thank you for having the good manners, and the human compassion, to deliver informative news without resorting to shock and awe.
