The Daily Nightly from NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams

About this blog

The Daily Nightly began on May 31, 2005. As Brian wrote in his first post it aims to provide a narrative of the broadcast day and a window into the editorial process at NBC Nightly News. Brian weighs in every weekday and NBC News correspondents and producers post regularly.

Brian Williams became the seventh anchor and managing editor in the history of NBC Nightly News on December 2, 2004. Read his full biography.

Hi Brian,
I want to complement you on the "Classy way" you acknowledged Katie's entrance into the nightly news competition. As a loyal NBC viewer, I must admit that I tuned in for the beginning of the CBS news broadcast, but switched back.
Keep up the good work.

Hi Brian,

Thanks for answering my question about the template on your desk. I referred some of my friends to the vlog and they thought it was awesome that you actually addressed the short 2 liner I wrote you. I think you can add another 10-15 Nightly viewers to your other 8 million. Although I hear you never look at ratings since it "can cause brain cancer"...

Catch you on MSNBC!

Mac users are fans too!! I can watch Katie's video blog but not your far superior Early Nightly? Can the Early Nightly and Netcast be downloaded as a podcast on iTunes like the audio of Nightly News can now? We can already watch ABC's World News that way. Seriously, as a news junky your blog and the Early Nightly are fascinating to me and I want to see them on my Mac. Thanks for doing them.

Hi Brian. I am Steve Fikar from Shalimar, FL.

I just watched your vlog for today and was wondering what kind of airplane model you have in the window. It sort of looks like a Bell X-1. Is there a story behind this?

Also, you really faked me out. When you were trying to remember what else was happening tonight, I thought for sure you were gong to offer a good luck message to Katie for her inaugural boradcast. (But that's OK, I like Tim Russert too.)

I Brian I am Peter Bicker I was wondering what that black thing that says NBC on the top of it is. Plus what is that book that says E3 and is blue. My e-mail address is pjbick90@yahoo.com. I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you so much for you time.
