Zarqawi's web

Evan Kohlmann, the NBC News analyst who monitors radical Web sites, says the site that was used most heavily by Zarqawi has nine pages of messages on it this morning, congratulating Zarqawi for "his martyrdom."

Terrorism analysts this week were noting the influence that Zarqawi had on "home-grown" terrorists around the world.  Several have said that the apparent plans by the Canadian cell, to behead members of the Canadian parliament, were almost certainly inspired by Zarqawi's tactics in Iraq.

These analysts note further that the Canadian suspects were in touch with a Zarqawi follower in London, known as Irhaby 007 (Terrorist 007), who operated on an Internet site that prominently featured Zarqawi's statements and videos. Zarqawi was an inspiration for jihadists worldwide, these analysts say.

Now that it has finally been accomplished it will be interesting to see how much of an impact this may have in the countries that seem to be assembling seperate terror cells that could cause a great deal of mayhem. The short term fallout could,in fact, cause some emotional and organizational mayhem for these cells in assembling their plans. In turn the international investgation units might be able to quickly gather much more intelligence in a shorter period of time by reacting to developments from the brief void created by the elimination or disruption of reorganiing new leadership. This could have a greater impact outside of Iraq than inside where the sectarian squabbling could be an ongoing dispute between the Iraq insurgency groups themselves which may not be resolved as quickly as we would like it to be.But in any event a big hooray for the persistency and tenacity of the military and intel folks that ended this great manhunt of a ruthless and dangerous man along with a number of others in leadership groups.
