My Wife and I have a Cowboy Church in Leesburg, Florida and are excited to be a part of the small town "Cowboy Churches" that are popping up all across the nation. We are all reaching the unreachable, we are a come as you are atmosphere, that many people are searching for. Some people are taught that they need to change before they go to church, but the Cowboy Church is a come as you are and God will put change in your heart. It is very important that as a "Church" they have a knowledgeable teacher that teaches the Word of God.

Very encouraging story!

Doug Harmon, Idaho & Geo Feg. Reading, Pa. missed the point of this story. I've met Pastor Jeff Smith and he truly teaches from God's Word -sharing the Gospel, the Good News, with those who don't attend "traditional" church. God is not concerned with where we worship, JUST WORSHIP and follow Him.

Church is not about "having fun and partying". Church is about learning about deity and the characters and actions that we need to take to gain salvation. Think about it, does a church like that really teach and show how the Lord did and still does things? Deity is so powerful, intelligent, merciful, graceful and loving. A church that wants to party has no part in what Deity means. It shows no attributes of what our Savior or Heavenly Father really are.

This is "boots on the ground ministry !" Reaching people right were they live, that's how Jesus lived and taught.

I don't think it is a slippery slope. For more years than I care to think about, traditional religious services just didn't fit the need for me. Just because I chose non traditional services doesn't mean I believe in God any less. I'm looking for ways to learn about God's love, not how he punishes (I already get that part).

Great story. They are just doing what Jesus did - taking the message to the people in a way everyone can understand. A church is people, not a building and not a religious organization.

If Jesus could give his sermon on a hill or a beach, then what is wrong with worshipping in a barn or anywhere elso for that matter. I think it is great!
Here in Texas we have "Cowboy Churches" that have even held their services in a cow sale barn. It grew so much they had to build their own church building.
God just loves us to worship...he didn't say where it had to be held. If the barn service will reach more of God's people, then we should open up more barns!

What an interesting report--if the "cowboy church" attracts people who otherwise wouldn't go to church, it can't hurt. I don't think it would matter to God whether the 10th Commandment is "Thou shalt not covet.." or "Don't hanker after your buddy's stuff."

As a clergyman myself,I believe that any church & any minister that can reflect the techings in the Bible and guide others onto the right path will be blessed by God. The message of Christ/Bible is eternal not the trappings of any building. Good Luck to the minister WOuld like to read a copy of the Cowboys Bible for my own use.

Hello. I'm looking for a new church home for years. Because of my past abuse from a typical church pillar, it has followed me to the present, ostracizing and "black-listing" me when I join other churches. I need a church that teaches the "Word," not push me away. I Love The Lord. I'm willing to learn about this new way of ministry. Peace and Grace.
