What difference is it going to make if the President calls for an investigation into oil gouging. Do you really think he is going to find or do anything against his or the VP's big oil buddies? Come on, it is a well known fact that big oil is a huge contributor to the GOP. There is not one GOP Congressperson, GOP Senator or GOP future Presidential Candidate who does not recieve proceeds from profits of big oil through their PACs or the National GOP office from profits made directly from the average taxpayer. This is pretty stupid to say the least. It is nothing more that a farmer letting all the foxes in the area investigate why his chickens keep disappearing. Why isn't the federal government investigating medical and pharmaceutical companies for price gouging the American consumer? They have been reaping windfall profits for years by gouging the average taxpayer. It would be the same answer as was stated above about big oil.
