Clinton back on Congress' mind
A Republican congresswoman from Florida says that she will not vote to honor Bill Clinton's birthplace in Hope, Ark., because the former president "has some explaining to do" about his role in the Dubai ports deal. Rep. Ginny Brown-Waite says that the deal itself is bad enough, but she is "even more outraged when I hear that (Clinton) may have consulted with the Crown Sheik of Dubai on this deal."
"How do we show that we are serious about protecting the United States from terrorist nations when we are proceeding to honor the birthplace of someone who may have brokered this deal?"
Her comments came during House floor debate today on a measure that would designate Clinton's birthplace home a National Historic Site. Normally, a seemingly non-controversial measure like this would be approved by voice vote, but at the conclusion of debate Brown-Waite rose to demand that members go on record.
"My decision to call for a recorded vote is based on the future of our country and the fact that we need to have all the information out there about Mr. Clinton's involvement in the Dubai ports whole issue," she said.
As a time saving measure, the recorded vote has been delayed so that the House can "roll" several votes together later this afternoon.
Editor's note: I forgot to inform readers of this blog, as promised, who correctly answered the trivia question posed by Mike in his last post. The winner was Sara Wolfson, who correctly guessed that Gerard A. Fiorenza, Dewey F. Bartlett and Hiram L. Fong will all have U.S. post offices named after them this week.

The ports deal was a set-up from the Bush administration. Karl Rove is not stupid. He did not let this happen without Bush knowing it would be a political disaster. With the port deal, the NSA deal, Katrina and so on,The administration is giving the GOP congress the opportunity to stand up to the president in so they look good to the constitutes for the election year. This is all staged blunders because there is no vice president running for president and this is the only way Bush can help his party with low numbers. I cant believe no one is reporting this. The GOP AKA (Karl Rove) is using reveres techniques to help keep Republican majority. OMG. Can he pull this one off?

Rep. Ginny Brown-Waite apparently has forgotten that under the corrupt Bush administration the letters GOP now stand for Greed Over Principle.

OMG. Bill Clinton is not a policy maker. He is a former president private individual whose wife is a Senator.
The “honorable” Rep. Ginny Brown-Waite, who disfavors Bush's port deal, is inclined to raise a hullabaloo oover Mr. Clinton's involvement as a private individual, in spite of her admitted lack of knowledge Clinton's specific involvement as a presumably, private advisor.
What will it take to change the “blame the Democrats” climate in this country? Will it take…
no WMDs in Iraq?
not being greeted as liberators?
no Iraq oil-money to pay the $300 billion dollar tab?
the largest deficit in the history of the country?
an abominable Medicare drug program for seniors?
a White House senior staffer revealing the name of a CIA NOC?
a inept federal response to our country’s largest natural disaster Katrina?
a president who didn’t know terrorist might fly planes into buildings or
a category 5 hurricane could top and breech levies?
What will it take to change the “blame the Democrats” knee jerk reaction in this country?

I wonder will Ms. Brown-Waite ask President Bush any questions or does she think its all Clintons fault. Funny how she doesn't want to honor Clinton while she smiles and accepts the GOP and Bush/Cheney/Rove corruption, torture and lies. I guess its still better to blame Clinton for eveything that Bush and the Republicans do wrong.

At lease Clinton consulted with someone about the ports deal. Bush "didn't know" anything about it!!
One must wonder why he jumped right into defending the deal if he didn't know about it! If you want to follow the money, check out huffingtonpost.com.

I guess this means Ms Brown-Waite will also vote against ever naming the Crawford Ranch as a National Historic site. Or does she only think Democrats are the reason for the ports problem?
