Move over, Oprah!
Yesterday I posted that the book Osama bin Laden mentioned in his recent audio tape was languishing at 209,572 on Amazon.com's book list. Well, take a look again today: "Rogue State: A Guide to the World's Only Superpower" by William Blum is, at this writing, ranked #43! According to Amazon, that means it is the 43rd best-selling book in their library. Amazing.

Most Americans still think that Saddam Hussein and Osama have been in cahoots together since the start. Most Americans don't know that it was THIS country that placed both men in the power they weild. Maybe we should open our eyes and ears and maybe, just maybe we may learn why "They" hate us. We are very ignorant. Read a Book America.

I think this just shows how hungry u.s. citizens are for information about foriegn policy. What has "our" government been up to?

When you changed the term" French Fries" to "Freedom Fries"- acceptable or not, it was understandable to the rest of the world!
However, when OBL recommends a book, and to learn at the ranking of it had moved up in The US- we dont get it! What exactly is going on? Short memory?

Billy:
If Osama speaks and everyone listens, that makes him a reincarnation of E.F. Hutton. Guess that's better than the propped-up boogyman the right has made out of him.

If Osama makes a reference to a book, does that mean that book is bad or wrong? If Osama liked puppies, should Americans hate them? I think we need separately analyze Osama's cause from his tactics from his sources and analyze them all separately. People can disagree with them all if they want but I get the feeling that most really only disagree with his tactics and know little to nothing about the others. Maybe reading this book would help change this and keep us focused on exactly what it is that we're fighting.

The comment was made that this was a "ploy of the administration" to make Democratic points look like those of terrorists. Ridiculous. The last thing the administration wants is for this book to move up more than 200,000 spots on the best-seller list. Bush would not look to score points by saying (erroneously) that Osama recommended a specific book-my impression is that this is a book the President doesn't necessarily want others reading.

Osama murdered 3000 of our people to make a point that we are inferior to his religion and ideals, now the Democrat Party seems very near to trying to pass a terriorest bill of rights, I'm going to be suprised if he doesnt run for the senate from new york or massachuses, the left want to give America to the terrorists on a plater!

goodness, maybe we should burn all the copies! That would keep all those Americans in line@!

It is about time that Blum's books get some attention. He is the leading historian of our time. Too bad that up until now the news speakers in the USA were clueless. Many of us have been following the works of Blum for years. Thanks to Osama, maybe the Press in the US will finally wake up.

Osama is a scumbag along with all his little girlfriends. If they were real troops and soldiers with a cause worth fighting for, they woldnt kill innocnet people reguardless of their political or religious ideas. But that is just the point . THEY ARE IDEAS, not a way of life and their ideals should not be construde as such, or your as worthless as they are.

I am relieved that some of the truth can get out somehow. I am surprised the Bush Administration has not banned the book. It is afraid of the truth.

Did we forget what this guy did to us? We should not be anouncing what he is saying,we should be out there looking for him. All these countries being hit by this guy and giving him air time, man,no wonder the guy is rich. We need to come together and nail him once in for all, along with all his buddies. Take them out one at a time. Lets not just sit back and wait for his move, lets find him. That will be the only way to solve all these issue's.

Duh, Osama is not sitting in a cave reading the latest American Political books, you lackwits. This is another ploy by the administration to try and make Democratic points look as if they are Osama's opinions as well. Nothing could be further from the truth. Osama did NOT make these comments.Read the transcripts- THIS is a fake.

hmmm...so Bin Laden is the next Oprah?

Does Osama do movie reviews, too? Does he have a must see list? Brokeback Mountain? Tora! Tora! Tora Bora?
Scott, Westminster, Maryland (Sent Jan 20, 2006 4:26:14 PM)
Dang! The book moved to number 33 already! I just ordered one for myself - I never heard about that book. Too bad William Blum cannot send Osama some check - He has no address.
George Moss, Los Angeles, CA (Sent Jan 20, 2006 4:04:06 PM)
It just goes to show that when Osama speaks everyone listens. And as reflected in this book's recent sale jump, the American consumer is the group most affected by the media. I doubt even the White House has reacted as quickly to what Mr. bin Laden said. I'll bet James Frey wishs he could get his book into the caves of the middle east!
