You are a breath of fresh air in Washington. Its a pleasure to hear something different than the controlled news from FOX. Keep hammering away.

SO who really cares about the time line of when the Vice President shot the lawyer . I think its just the White house press core. No one cares GOT IT !

David, despite what I wrote yesterday in comments to you, I watched and listened to what Mr.Bush had to say. He brought up many subjects and had few constructive solutions. He ultimately blamed Congress and the Democrats. Nothing new in that department. My daughter and I watched because she was to listen for good sound bites for her Advanced Placement Government class............she discovered that she had more than she needed. Other than that it was uninspiring. How many more of the SOTU's? Oh yeah, at least two more.

David I was lost at the fact that Bush said 4.7 million new jobs he created more then Japan. Where are these jobs? All I hear is layoff/downsizing/out sourceing. All words with nothing behind it. In other words we're in a mess and he has no idea how to get us out of it. Thanks for the information I must be honest I can't look at the President for more then 2 seconds. I did notice that very little was said about the White House/GOP corruption or the Katrina victims, but he did say we should make sure the Iraq people have jobs and build their country. Now we know who's more important to the President not the American people. As for wiretapping everyone knows it's illegal without a warrant so who's kidding who. David thanks for the information you did a great job.

Being an American citizen now determined not to vote for either party, Republican or Democrat, I am once again amazed at how different their world is than mine. I will this year give up my favorite 'day off job', volunteering, I will not be able to afford the gas to get there this year. Their world is in billions and deficit spending while mine is in tiny little thousands and trying to survive, eat, work, and pay my bills. Let see they get free retirement , excellent health care and tax relief because they are rich and powerful and need more. I get to pay for my own taxes, retirement, & healthcare. They get to lie cheat and steal, and spend billions, while being treated to a free lunch, while I do honest work. Yup, I'm disgusted with the system, politians are too rich and too powerful to have a clue about anything. I have voted in elections for the lessor of 2 evils, for the last time. They can buy enough votes to not notice this one is gone. I always wondered why people didn't vote, now I know. I'm just old and stupid, they were right to give up, I now join their ranks. What percentage actually vote in America today?
Americans don't go to the polls because the choices are absolutely ugly. Political candidates have left ordinary citizens behind for the life of glory leisure, power, and greed.

Bush wants the line item veto.

Clinton had the line item veto and the Supreme Court declared it unconstitutional.

Of course that was when it was a Democratic president and a Republican controlled Congress.

Bush said he wants to strengthen the doctor-patient relationship.

Bush wants to extend the Patriot Act.

With the Patriot Act, agents from DHS, NSA, FBI, etc., can, without a warrant or even notifying the doctor and patient, make copies of the patient's records.

?????

Many thanks David for a really interesting way to share this days events. I still wonder where the Bush twins are when their Daddy is speaking. Hope you continue this cyber sharing.

Based on the "glowing success" of Bush's Medicare Prescription Drug plan where millions of the poorest retired Americans are going without their lifesaving medications, how can anyone have any confidence in Bush's plan to change Social Security?

Who the heck chose this guy? Didn't he go over the speech earlier in the evening? Why do the democrats constantly shoot themselves in the foot. We had a chance to really get through and we choose Kain because he is a governor from Virginia. What's wrong with Reid or Obama.

Does anyone know what sector all those jobs he said were created actually fall under? I doubt they are middle class.

This was a good idea that MSNBC devised. I enjoyed it thoroughly. Thanks!

They had to applaud, or Karl Rove would push poll them into the second act of Hamlet.

Does anybody know the number of applauses the President received during his speech?

The usual biased stuff, from the mainstream press.

Great job, although I wish you would have made a comment on his math and science program. Sure he may help them (chilren) with the desire to learn but he isn't helping those children/future high school grads much by setting the federal loan rate at a fixed 6.5% on July 1st.

Just watched the Pres.' speech - think he covered everything except how many squares to toilet paper should be used!

Thanks David, great blog and nice job.

Thanks David,

Nice, concise view of the speech.

is it me or did the president say that in terms of new orleans, we should just keep on believing in opportunity for all americans???????? the man says NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!! i am so ashamed to be an american tonight (well, not just tonight)

Thanks David and wonderful to see your sense of humor coming through.

Thanks, David! Interesting to watch with continuing commentary.
