Brian, after seeing the way that you handled the events surrounding Katrina, I was, first surprised that you were allowed access to the White House. Following this surprise, however, I was disappointed, to note the softballs that you allowed the CinC to field, and the number of issues that you failed to call him on. His actions, his words, were just so much more tripe, and lies, and you did not call him on it. Too bad.

Why does every interview with Bush by every reporter descend into a chummy smile-a-thon? For someone who's gotten a lot of good people killed for no good reason, no one seems at all interested in holding him accountable for his actions. Where is Sam Donaldson when we need him...

Well, that was a wasted half hour. The networks gave the Administration a free ride for five years right through reelection. Then, Brian lands one solid punch with Katrina, and what happens next: a half hour free commercial for a completely scripted subject from a gabbling acolyte. Deja vu.

Brian, i am a 40 year old that watches while most of my friends live in cyberspace and dont dig network news unfortunately. i appreciate having the chance to watch you each night at 1830 hrs in LA. the bush stuff is what it is, but time for a change in my book. thanks for getting us the news from all angles and corners...

After watching tonight's NBC Nightly News broadcast I was disappointed to see it was merely another PR opportunity for President Bush. Where has true investigative reporting gone? Why don't you follow up and investigate the president's assertion that only 30,000 Iraqis have died as a result of our misguided invasion of a sovereign nation? That's only a start of the president's assertions that require investigation.

I look forward to watching the interview in its entirety. President Bush, in my opinion, didn't do much to clarify his opinions and his stances.
I've heard before, that President Bush is well-known for "staying on message." I think it was a step in the right direction, however, that he mentioned the 30,000 Iraqis that have been killed.
Was President Bush honest answering? Yes, I believe so. Did he tell Americans what we want to know? Not completely.

Very upset at the coverage. Couric and Laurer ask more poignant questions. I don't need to see the president debated, but this country needs some REAL answers. Watched religiously since Katrina, but no more. Glad to know that the president reads the paper once in awhile.

Hey Brian, when interviewing someone, me or the Presedent, please try keeping good eye contact. You would be surprised how folks picks up on this..
keep truckin,...............

I think Mr. Williams did an excellent job of representing the president. I thought when I saw this I would see something other than rehearsed answers. What has happened to our news media. Where were the hard hitting questions and seeking information. Its not a question of Mr. Williams, but more to the point of seeing real questions of substance with real answers. This seems almost as the rehearsed pre-answered interivews of Mr. Bush and the soldiers in Iraq. A real disappointment and a question of what ever happened to real reports. Maybe you could take some lessons from Anderson Cooper, So much for real answers as to the war, the hurricane or the economy.

I was SO disappointed in your interview of President Bush. Softball questions, no follow-up, obvious awe and deference. If you expect viewers to watch you and politicians to respect you, you'd better start acting like your predecessors at NBC: Huntley, Brinkley, Chancellor, Brokaw, et al.
WallyWhite (Sent Dec 12, 2005 7:12:36 PM)
Could you please contact the president and get clarification on what a "chopper driver" is. I suspect he is talking about a helicopter pilot.

How nice of NBC to participate in the current Bush propaganda campaign. Were you not allowed follow-up questions? Or was this as it appeared: pandering at its finest. Brian Williams...Armstrong Williams....what a shame!

Many look to the nightly news for a recap of the events of the day. I was surprised to see so much time devoted to Geo. Bush telling the country he wasn't a racist and making excuses for his behavior. Given the 30-minute format, this "exclusive" day with the president falls just short of an endorsement. My guess is that most of your viewers would prefer to see this type of lengthy interview aired on MSNBC.

I watched the "interview" with Bush. I felt like I was watching a game of slow-pitch softball rather than an interview. My personal favorite "question" was (and I'm paraphrasing) "How disappointed are you that the positive growth in the economy isn't at the forefront of media coverage?" Did the White House write these questions? Was this "newscast" really just a paid advertisement for the Republican Party?

After anxiously awaiting the interview with Brian Williams we are disappointed to see how obvious it was that the president had rehearsed the answers. I'd like to see a real live interview where Mr Bush would answer questions without prior knowledge of the question and without someone giving him the answers.
Fran Heiser (Sent Dec 12, 2005 6:47:05 PM)
I'll be interested in hearing the president's words, but I doubt it will do anything to change my mind on how this war was prosecuted - and why our troops were sent there in the first place.
John Cummings (Sent Dec 12, 2005 5:53:26 PM)
I'm happy to hear about the expanded broadcast on MSNBC. It's a good sign that you can still "spill over" into that channel when the news demands it. Looking forward to the shows. (And it seems the news recently is that demanding. Unfortunately.)

Biting my nails in anticipation! You did a good job with the blogs today. I think you need to give us blow by blow blogs every day. It's more facinating but I'm sure it's also very time consuming.
Can't wait to see the finished project!
